The first Mansfield Community Health Fair was held on Saturday, October 1, in the cafeteria at St. Mary’s Church. The St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus helped organize the event, which had the purpose of introducing the members of our community to various businesses and agencies that are able to provide Mansfield residents services and assistance.
The principal organizer of the event was Rick Meeker, a PGK at St. Mary’s and current deputy Grand Knight, who is also the coordinator for the St. Mary’s Social Concerns Committee. Other members of the Knights of Columbus prepared a webpage for the event and made phone calls to area agencies to invite them to participate.
Of course, the mission of the Knights is not only to promote the material health of our community, but also to reach out on the spiritual level. To that end, we had a Knights of Columbus booth with information about the Church and recruitment materials for any Catholic gentleman. This also was an opportunity to bring awareness to our insurance program available to all K of C members, which went right along with the health fair theme.
